MAP NOTES
What to take with you
- Separate how much, how often, and when to take a medicine
- 食前・食後・就寝前 describe timing around meals or sleep
- Never rely on a language article when instructions remain unclear
Break the label into three questions
Look for the amount per dose, the number of times per day, and the timing. 一回一錠 means one tablet per dose. 一日三回 means three times a day. Keep these pieces separate.
Read timing words carefully
食前 means before a meal, 食後 means after a meal, and 就寝前 means before sleeping. The exact timing and whether food matters depend on the medicine and professional instructions.
Ask a complete confirmation question
Use この薬は、いつ、何錠 飲みますか: “When and how many tablets do I take?” Then repeat the answer. If you cannot understand, ask for written or multilingual support.
Safety comes before practice
Do not change a dose or timing based on a vocabulary example. Confirm allergies, interactions, missed-dose instructions, and warnings with the prescribing professional or pharmacist.
