YOUR N5 COMPASS

Understand some basic Japanese and establish a dependable first study routine.

The first official JLPT level and a useful destination after learning kana and core sentence patterns.

THE OFFICIAL TARGET, MADE CLEAR

What N5 asks you to understand.

READING

What you should be able to read

Recognize typical expressions and short sentences written with hiragana, katakana, and basic kanji.

LISTENING

What you should be able to follow

Pick out needed information from short, slowly spoken conversations about daily or classroom life.

FOUR STUDY PRIORITIES

Keep the plan focused.

Use these as weekly planning categories. If one remains weak, give it a specific exercise and a visible amount of time.

  1. 01Kana without hesitation
  2. 02Core particles and sentence order
  3. 03High-frequency verbs and adjectives
  4. 04Short, slow listening every day

ONE CLEAR ROUTE

A practical route toward N5.

Move forward only after you can explain what caused your mistakes. The aim is steady control, not a pile of disconnected resources.

  1. STEP 01Make hiragana and katakana automatic.
  2. STEP 02Build short sentences around particles, verbs, and adjectives.
  3. STEP 03Read compact passages and identify who did what.
  4. STEP 04Practice short listening, then answer timed sample questions.
