The manga has a defined publication span
VIZ credits Akutami Gege as creator and dates Weekly Shonen Jump serialization to 2018. The official anime story page states that the manga concluded in September 2024 after about six and a half years. The anime is a separate adaptation; the official staff page lists its production roles and MAPPA. Use the manga date for publication history and season-specific credits for animation.
呪い is broader than a fantasy label
呪い(のろい) can mean a curse and can also describe a destructive burden or lingering negative force in figurative language. Historical and religious uses require their own sources. Jujutsu Kaisen builds a specific fictional system from the word, so its monsters and mechanics cannot define every Japanese use of 呪い.
A kanji family builds the system
呪術師(じゅじゅつし) is a jujutsu sorcerer in the official English framing. 呪力(じゅりょく), cursed energy, combines curse with power. 術式(じゅつしき) ordinarily suggests a technique, method, or formula but has a specialized story role. 領域(りょういき) means a domain, area, or field and appears in ordinary academic and administrative language too.
Special terms need two definitions
For each recurring term, write an everyday dictionary-level meaning and a separate work-specific meaning. Then add one note about register: would a person use it in daily conversation, encounter it in news or study, or recognize it mainly in fiction? This prevents the glossary from turning a fictional rule into general Japanese.
Life-and-death language carries weight
生(せい) and 死(し) form many compounds, while 生きる and 死ぬ are direct verbs. Stories about danger can expose learners to blunt, formal, and euphemistic expressions. Do not imitate a dramatic line without checking who speaks, to whom, and why. Sensitive words need the same context work as politeness.
Study without copying the script
Select a very short moment from an authorized source. Paraphrase the situation, record only the minimum phrase needed for language analysis, and create your own neutral example. Do not paste subtitle files, long dialogue, manga panels, character art, or logos into an article or generated learning image.
